'''Ranette''' was a gunsmith on [[Scadrial]]. She made many of the guns used by [[Wax]] and [[Wayne]]. She shelters them and inspects one of the [[Vanishers]] [[aluminum]] pistols.
She lived in the Roughs, but moved to the city some time before Wax did because there is no electricity in the Roughs yet, despite disliking the [[Elendel]]. Her home is located in the Third Octant. It is a redbrick house and is two stories.{{book ref|mb4|1}}{{book ref|mb4|10}}{{book ref|mb4|14}}
Ranette is long-legged and lean. She has dark hair which she wears in a shoulder-length ponytail. While Wax, Wayne and Marasi are staying in her house, she wears brown trousers, a white laced shirt and a long Roughs-style leather coat.{{book ref|mb4|14}}
