Algún tiempo después de que el pueblo de Treno descubriera el continente que contiene los [[Bosques del Infierno]], se produjo un cataclismo desconocido en su Patria.{{book ref|sfs}} Apareció un ser o una fuerza a la que sólo se conoce como la Maldad y, de algún modo, consiguió matar a la mayoría de la gente que vivía en su continente. Los supervivientes estaban lo bastante desesperados como para huir a través del océano hacia los Bosques que antes creían infernales, donde los [[Pionero]] ya habían empezado a asentarse. Ayudaron a cuidar de los refugiados y a aclimatarlos a su nuevo hogar, coexistiendo con las [[umbra]]s y siguiendo las [[Sencillas Reglas]]. Se perdió gran parte del gobierno, las culturas y la tecnología del viejo continente, lo que ahora se llamaba el [[Mundo Caído]]. Ideales como la justicia, la bondad o la vida moral se convirtieron en cosas del pasado, el culto al [[Dios del Más Allá]] se hizo menos común y muchos conocimientos, como el uso de la pólvora, quedaron casi olvidados en los Bosques. La gente que sobrevivió en los Bosques era un pueblo duro y resistente que se centraba más en los aspectos prácticos y menos en cosas como el amor y la familia.
Sometime after the people of Threnody discovered the continent that contains the [[Forests of Hell]], an unknown cataclysm occurred in their Homeland.{{book ref|sfs}} A being or force referred to only as the Evil appeared and somehow managed to kill the majority of people living on their continent. The survivors were desperate enough to flee across the ocean to the Forests that they had once believed to be hell, where the [[Forescout]]s had already begun to settle. The Forescouts helped care for the refugees and acclimatize them to their new home, coexisting with the [[shade]]s and following the [[Simple Rules]]. Much of the government, cultures, and technology of the old continent, what was now called the [[Fallen World]] was lost. Ideals such as justice, kindness, or moral living became things of the past, worship of the [[God Beyond]] became less common, and much knowledge, such as the use of gunpowder, was nearly forgotten in the Forests. The people who survived in the Forests were a harsh, hardy people that focused more on practicalities and less on things such as love and family.
