Lopen always found Kaladin's abilities fascinating, particularly his ability to absorb [[Stormlight]], and was vocal about his desire to "glow" like Kaladin. He repeatedly attempted to [[Invest]] Stormlight from gemstones, and eventually succeeded, allowing him to restore his missing arm through the healing effect of Stormlight. {{book ref|sa2|87}}
As one of Kaladin's [[Knights Radiant#Squires|squire]]s, he
Lopen later became a [[Knight Radiant]] in his own right, bonding with a male Windrunner spren named [[Rua]]. Currently he has achieved the [[Order of Windrunners#The_Second_Ideal|Second Ideal]] of the Windrunners.{{book ref|sa3|121}}
