Hanavanar is a rather clever man, smart enough to realize that he could be a potential target for Szeth, after three of the Veden highprinces wereare murdered. He is also wily enough to keep his [[Shardblade]] a secret, although some rumors managedmanage to get out. However, he severely underestimates Szeth's abilities, arrogantly assuming that he, two [[Shardbearer]]s, and guards wielding [[half-shard]]s would beare enough to defeat Szeth. He also grows frustrated easily, swearing at his men when they failedfail to kill Szeth quickly. Hanavanar also seems not to value the lives of his subjects and peers above his own; he sets a trap for an assassin known for committedcommitting massacres during a dinner party.
