Cenn es joven, inexperto, y tiene cierto parecido con [[Tien]]. Antes de su primera batalla se pone nervioso, exclamando que va a morir, y encuentra la brusca voz de [[Dallet]] reconfortante. No obstante actúa con valentía al combatir.{{book ref|sa1|1}}{{book ref|sa1|47}}
Cenn is young, inexperienced, and bears a certain resemblance to [[Tien]]. Before his first battle he gets nervous and exclaims that he's going to die, and experiences [[Dallet]]'s gruff voice as comforting, but while fighting he acts brave nonetheless.

After barely three months of training{{book ref|sa1|1}} Cenn got assigned to [[Gare]]'s squad, but before his first real battle [[Kaladin]] bribed Gare to transfer Cenn to his own squad to be able to protect the young recruit.{{book ref|sa1|47}}

Durante la batalla Dallet se mantuvo vigilando a Cenn, empujándolo de vuelta a la formación con regularidad y dándole algunos consejos de veterano. Después de que su escuadrón formase una formación en V, Cenn fue colocado en primer lugar en el lugar seguro del centro. Más tarde Dallet lo colocó al fondo del patrón en V, aunque Cenn no hizo más que mantener la posición. Una hora más tarde Kaladin ordenó a su escuadrón que abandonase la colina que estaban defendiendo, pero en el caos Cenn se separó de sus compañeros. Cuando se enfrentó a seis solados enemigos aún intentó asestar un golpe al líder pero él mismo recibió una puñalada en el muslo. Su enemigo iba a matarlo, de no ser porque Kaladin acabó con los seis, y después Kaladin vendó su herida.{{book ref|sa1|1}}
During the battle Dallet keeps watching over Cenn, regularly pushes him back in formation and gives him some veteran advice.

After the squad formed a V formation Cenn was placed in the safe center of it, but later Dallet places him at the bottom of the V pattern, although Cenn did no more than just stand his ground.

An hour later Kaladin orders the squad to abandon the hill they were defending, but in the chaos Cenn gets separated from his squadmates. When faced by six enemy soldiers he still tries to make a stroke at the lead soldier, but gets stabbed in his thigh himself. His foe was about to kill him, were it not that Kaladin took all six of them down, and then Kaladin binds his wound.
 
When Kaladin attacks a lighteyed officer Dallet stays behind with Cenn and the other wounded. Cenn was starting to feel light-headed because he lost too much blood, and when the [[Shardbearer]] comes for them he just closes his eyes and gets trampeled by his horse.{{book ref|sa1|1}}{{book ref|sa1|47}}

Cenn hisses a [[Death Rattle]] before his death when Kaladin is kneeling over him:
