The fundamental tenets of the religion are called the Five Visions {{ref|b|wb|c|13}}. These were the visions had by Vo, the First [[Returned]], before he died{{ref|b|wb|c|20}}.
One of the Visions includes the following line:
{{quote|"I saw men who placed themselves above others, and I saw them cast down"|{{ref|b|wb|c|13}}|}}

The Visions teach virtues of humility, sacrifice and seeing another's problems before your own {{ref|b|wb|c|40}}. They teach that no man man should try to put oneself above the others, and that Austre regards all people equally{{ref|b|wb|c|19}}.
The Visions teach that no man should search to assume
He was the true God of men, the one who sent the Returned.

Acting ostentatiously, rejecting people because of their sins and flaunting one's talents were seen as sins {{ref|b|wb|c|19}},{{ref|b|wb|c|20}}.
