At someone point, humansthe wentUnited Governments military accidentally shot down a [[Tenasi]] diplomatic vessel. Humanity worried that this might throw them into a conflict, but the [[Phone Company]] stepped in and organized peace. Aliens generally considered humankind to warbe againstrather alluncivilized. otherHowever, alienwhen humankind discovered that most "civilized" races suppressed everyone who disagreed with them, they entered war with the rest of the galaxy. Humankind lost. The victors were a group of aliens who considered humankind to be too uncivilized to be allowed to join the intergalactic community. They ordered all human fleets to surrender to their authority. The inhabitants of the [[Defiant]] refused, and the coalition sent a group to capture them. After a conflict on board the Defiant, one of the users of [[psionicsCytonics]] sent the ship to [[Detritus]]. The group of aliens followed, and set up a station to watch them after crashing. They continue being stationed there as prison guards.
