While Sanderson has stated multiple times that he will rewrite and publish Hoid's origin story at some point, his first attempt did not feel right, and "every chapter was a chore to write."{{qa ref|995|2|Liar may be rewritten as a first-person narrative|date=May 14th, 2013}} He does not distribute this book because the personality of the main character "never clicked," and he does not want it to color fans' predispositions towards that character.{{qa ref|675|17|Challenges writing characters|date=Dec 15th, 2011}}
The main character uses a magic called 'Lightweaving', which Brandon has since used in his Stormlight Archive series. It is unclear whether he will completely rework the magic in Liar of Partinel, or if both worlds will have the same magic.
Brandon has released a released the first 6 chapters of the Liar of Partinel on his website [http://brandonsanderson.com/drafts/warbreaker/LiarPt12.doc here]. However, he plans on rewriting it.
