By acting in harmony with a certain type of spren, one can attract and form a bond with them. The closer the bond the better able to access Surgebinding. It is believed that all the magic systems in Roshar are connected and reflect the 16 fragments of Adonalsium. Each of the surges corresponds to one of the Shards, which means there should actually be 16 Surges total. The currently understood Surges associated with the Knights Radiant are listed below, but this is a VERY premature list as we have not even seen most of them used.
