The Elsecallers were [[Surgebinder]]s who used the [[Surge]]s of Transformation and Transportation{{17s ref|post|67791}}, and they absorbed [[Stormlight]] from gems. They formed a [[Nahel Bond]] with [[Inkspren]].{{book ref|sa3|47}} So far, it is known that the Elsecallers had the power to [[Soulcast]] and to "Elsecall," a use of the Transportation Surge which allows physical travel between [[Realms]].

The Elsecallers are one of the scholarly orders of Knights Radiant. Inkspren are attracted to people who think through decisions rather than acting on instinct. This quality is usually associated with scholars, but can also apply to a soldier who thinks things through instead of rushing into battle.{{wob ref|1603}}
Modern lore connects the Elsecallers with the gemstone Zircon, the number seven, the [[Ten Essences|essence]] tallow, and the body focus oil. They are associated with the attributes wise and careful. In the double eye of the Almighty, the Elsecallers are connected to the [[Willshapers]], [[Order of Lightweavers|Lightweavers]], and the [[Skybreakers]]. In [[Vorinism]], Elsecallers, along with all the Knights radiant, are considered monsters who betrayed mankind during the Recreance.
