It is later revealed he had prepared [[Hinston]] to take over the Ladrians’ house but his disease was unfortunate and made him search for Wax instead. Because Hinston died, he searched for Wax to take over his fortune and estate after his death, hoping he had overcome his sense of morality. {{book ref|mb4|epilogue}}
As this was not the case, and though he resisted killing him in the beginning {{book ref|mb4|15}} he later asked his butler [[Tillaume]] to set a fire and kill Wax. He survived and understood that for someone who had been loyal to the family for so long, the only reason he could be so eager to kill him was that he was following his former master. That is how Wax finds out his uncle is still alive. {{book ref|mb4|epilogue}}
Set bought a lot of House Tekiel's stock, believing Wax would survive them all and defeat the Vanishers.
