Calamity appears as a bright, crimson-colored star to people on Earth.{{book ref|firefight|prologue}} He creates the star effect by glowing brightly while on the International Space Station, which he turned to glass.{{book ref|calamity|47}} As the fake Epic Larcener, he appears to be a tall young man with short black hair and pale skin.{{book ref|calamity|19}} He has a childish and whiny personality, and frequently mutters about how horrible humans are.{{book ref|calamity|19}}{{book ref|calamity|39}}{{book ref|calamity|48}}
== History ==
Calamity is an inhuman being whose origin is mostly unknown. He is a part of group of similar beings who for some reason want to prove, by experimenting in different universes, that humans always misuse power.{{book ref|calamity|48}} Calamity was born on Earth as a human, and found life on the planet painful and confusing in comparison to the place where he originated. After ten years of living on Earth, observing mankind, Calamity decided that he had had enough, and started living in the International Space Station, which he turned to glass.{{book ref|calamity|47}} He used his limitless abilities to glow brightly, making him appear to be a star from the viewpoint of people on Earth. At this point he began gifting powers to humans, who were corrupted by him as they received his hatred for the human race.{{book ref|calamity|48}} Shortly afterwards, Calamity sent a clone of himself to Earth.{{cite}} He pretended to be an Assumer Epic who people named Larcener. He joined [[The Coven]] and took over the city of Atlanta, which he renamed to [[Ildithia]].{{cite}}
