== Structure ==
Each book will have one major viewpoint character, with the other major characters complementing that character. In ''The Way of Kings'', the main character is [[Kaladin]], with [[Shallan]] and [[Dalinar]] as the other major viewpoints. In "Words of Radiance" the main character is Shallan, with others as major viewpoints, and in "Oathbringer" the main character is Dalinar" with others as other major viewpoints.
Each book will also focus on one specific order of the Knights Radiant, (likely it will always be the order of the main character). In "The Way of Kings", the main order is Windrunner, as Kaladin is the main character. In "Words of Radiance" the main order is Lightweaver, as Shallan is the main character, and in Oathbringer the order is Bondsmith as Dalinar is the main character.
The second set of five books will be completed after the [[Mistborn (series)|third Mistborn trilogy]].{{qa ref|675|8}} They are currently planned to have flashbacks from [[Jasnah]], [[Lift]], [[Shalash]], [[Renarin]], and [[Taln]].{{17s ref|post|245061|Who are the back 5?|date=20 Feb 2015}} Brandon has stated, "I have no problem having a main character who is actually dead, and their story told through flashbacks and the stories of the other characters." {{reddit ref|Stormlight_Archive|41r099|cz4kzxp|date=2016-01-19|text=Will Renarin live?}} Thus if a character is scheduled to have flashbacks in an upcoming book they are still able to die in subsequent books. ▼
