The '''Day of Recreance''' was the final act of the [[Knights Radiant]]. They abandoned their [[Shardblade]]s and left their duties. Why they did so is for now unknown. However, after the Dawnchant was translated, it was revealed that the Recreance happened two thousand years ago, after the Radiants discovered that humanity were in truth, the original [[Voidbringers]] who had invaded Roshar, and that the Dawnsingers had been [[Listeners]].
 
However itIt is implied in one of the epigraphs to [[Words of Radiance]] that not all ten orders took part, but that one order hid themselves away instead:
