Each book will focus on one specific [[Knights Radiant|Order of Knights Radiant]] and one primary viewpoint character: [[Order of Windrunners|Windrunner]] (Kaladin) for ''The Way of Kings'', [[Order of Lightweavers|Lightweaver]] (Shallan) for ''Words of Radiance'', and [[Order of Bondsmiths|Bondsmith]] (Dalinar) for ''Oathbringer''. Venli will be the primary viewpoint character for ''Rhythm of War''. The fifth book will focus on the [[Order of Skybreakers]] and Szeth.
The second set of five books will be completed after the [[Mistborn (series)|third Mistborn trilogy]].{{wob ref|11548}} They are currently planned to have flashbacks from [[Jasnah]], [[Lift]], [[Shalash]], [[Renarin]], and [[Taln]].{{wob ref|11620}} Brandon has made clear that a character can have flashback point of views, even if he or she is already dead, so the characters scheduled to have flashbacks in an upcoming book might still die before their book.{{wob ref|3757}}
