He was supposed to assume the role as the head of House Ladrian when his father faked his own death, but he caught a disease and died. Edwarn's plans were already in action, so he was forced to name Wax his successor as the new head of the house and hope that Wax would be useful.{{ref|b|aol|epilogue}}

Hinston nació cuando Wax tenía dieciocho años. Hasta ese momento Edwarn no tenía herederos, de modo que había estado entrenando a Wax y Telsin para ser los herederos de la Casa Ladrian.{{book ref|mb5|5}} Hinston debía haber asumido el rol de líder de la Casa cuando su padre fingió su propia muerte, pero cayó enfermo y murió prematuramente.
